I’ve been thinking about what I want to say to you for quite a while now, but I’ve decided that a simple “thank you” is really all I can say. I was looking back at my calendar, and I moved into the rectory on May 25th of last year. I didn’t start full time at Most Blessed Sacrament until the end of August since I was busy with my hospital ministry at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, but I have more or less been here as your seminarian for the past 15 months or so. From the very bottom of my heart, I want to extend a sincere thank you to each and every one of you for making me feel so welcome here in your parish. Thank you for opening your lives and hearts to me, and making me feel like part of the family. Thank you for the privilege of being able to teach your children in the school- it was one of the true highlights of my time here, and I sincerely hope that I was able to enrich their lives as much as they have enriched mine. Thank you for playing such a pivotal role in my formation for the priesthood. God willing, I will be ordained to the diaconate in May and you are all most welcome to attend.
Obviously there is much, much more that I could say, but I am certainly not going to say goodbye since I will be back for both Christmas and Easter. I’ve developed a deep love for this parish during my time here and I will always cherish the memories we have made together. Know that I will be praying for you regularly, and that we will never be separated from one another when we approach the altar of the Lord in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Praying for you as you pray for me,
