This weekend, we are taking up a second collection to support victims in one of the most devastated areas affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria—the Diocese of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
These islands have been almost completely wiped out, left with virtually no infrastructure and few surviving services. Our financial support will help with long-term recovery efforts, including needed pastoral care and support, case management to assist disaster victims, and direct assistance to people unable to get insurance coverage or sufficient government support from FEMA.
Our prayers go out to all who perished, their families, and untold numbers of people who are injured and home- less, or facing evacuation after the devastation wrought from Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Recovery efforts are expected to take months, if not years.
Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo is collecting and forwarding donations dollar for dollar to the Diocese of St. Thomas. Checks should be made out Most Blessed Sacrament Parish as we will send a single check to
Catholic Charities or you can donate online at https://www.catholiccharitiesnwo.org/donate.
