The fifth grade has been very busy in all of their core classes. The fifth grade just finished reading the novel How to eat Fried Worms and we have started the book Frindle by Andrew Clements. We are working on reading comprehension, making inferences, and reading for important information in nonfiction articles. In Social Studies we have completed the chapter on Brazil and will begin working on geography skills, such as longitude and latitude, using a compass rose, and learning our states and capitals. In Math, we are working on long division and being more proficient with multiplication facts. Fractions concepts are coming soon. In Religion, we have talked about the Healing Sacraments of Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick. We are looking ahead to how God calls us to be holy by listening to Him and discovering and using our talents. We will be engaging in Stations of the Cross reflections and of course learning more about Holy Week as it gets closer. In Science, we are talking about animals. Animal habitats, adaptations (physical and behavioral), and ecosystems.
