Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the process of learning about and receiving the necessary Sacraments in order to be a fully initiated and practicing Catholic. That is to worship Jesus through the traditions of the Catholic Church.

Many would have heard this process as its former name “Rite of Christian Initiation”, or “Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults”, or “RCIA”.

OCIA has four stages of preparation to enter into the fullness of the Church’s traditions and communion. Inquiry, the Catechumenate, Purification and Enlightenment, and Mystagogy. This process should be seen as the development of an individual’s readiness and deep commitment to living life as a disciple of Jesus Christ within the Catholic Church. These stages prepare individuals for Baptism, Reconciliation, Confirmation and Eucharist, and culminate the night before Easter, at the Easter Vigil. OCIA begins in September and continues through April. Sessions are held on Thursdays, 7:00pm-8:30pm.

OCIA is passionately and graciously led by Chuck Dobson and Chris Solly. Please reach out to them to get started!
